One of the jaws of a mill-mounted center plate is being finished. After the front jaw has been smoothed, the rear one will be machined a very specific distance from the first one. The jaw to jaw distance basically matches the width of the frame bolster. The trick is to get the two items to go together firmly, with no wiggle room.
